President's Message

99! Yes 99 of League members gathered on October 17, 2022 at A Villa Louisa for a very entertaining cooking demonstration by Chef Chris Prosperi of Metro Bis restaurant in Simsbury. Everyone enjoyed gathering to see old and new friends and to hear about some new ideas for The League and its operation. The bylaws were approved as presented and we have a new mission statement:

The League fosters friendship and philanthropy through a variety of groups initiated by members. Our focus is on personal growth, intellectual and recreational activities that enhance the lives of our members and the community at-large. The League supports scholarships at UConn, as well as local non-profit organizations.

As we continue to grow, the changes adopted in our By-laws will enable us to more effectively reach out to our membership and the community. In the process, we will develop new leaders who will move us forward and help us celebrate our 56-year history together.

On another note, The League participated in the Celebrate Mansfield Festival in Downtown Storrs on September 24th. We had an opportunity to share our activities with participants and engage people in learning more about The League. We are hopeful that new membership requests will result from this community activity.
